Who else adores this insane man? His writings inspired nearly all our great horror authors of our time.

He is my favorite author. I am in the process of reading EVERYTHING BY HIM - EVER. And I'm sorta caught up in the Cthulhu Mythos... although it's been some time since delved into any of that. I... completely legally... -eyes start acting shifty and twitchy- downloaded an entire library of his works onto my laptop. My favorite story is probably "The Rats in the Walls."
EDIT: Also, see my quote. It's my favorite of his. EDIT EDIT: By "see my quote" I am referring to the one in my signature

The Rats in the Walls is great. And I have nothing but awesomely, finger-lickingly good things to say about the Chthulu Mythos. I haven't made the effort to read all of his work, but he has not disappointed me yet.

I have two paperbacks of compilations of his stories... you could definitely borrow them if you so desired. Have you seen the silent film of The Call of Cthulhu they made in 2005?

@The Host
You, sir, just exceeded maximum awesome. Do want. Do want. I have no place to put them in my already-overstuffed room where they wouldn't be in danger of being lost forever to the black hole that I'm convinced is hiding somewhere in the vicinity of the room...
I have, however (this may sound odd...), designed a home to someday build. It will definitely have a Gothic feel to it. Not "HAIL SATAN" Gothic, but you know... think if Dracula was your interior designer.
ANYWAY. Yes, I've seen the previews for it... the movies they're making are "progressing down the line." The first one (Call of Cthulhu) was black/white and silent. This one will still be black/white, but will have sound. I believe the third one will be "In the Mountains of Madness"

I KNOW. I CAN'T WAIT. Also, I know what I'm using my next disposable $35 for. This man... I don't know, even as a kid (past a certain point, of course), I would see scary movies or read scary stories, and think "Pfft. That isn't real." Lovecraft, though... he gives me chills, and it humbles me as such, but I'm a glutton for it. He is amazing.

@Kaos Do you have these plans about? Or can you describe them? I'd like to hear about it.
I don't have specific blueprints or anything, but I more or less looked over the internet, mostly Google Image, and found a basis for all the items I want in my house. The furniture, the AWESOME BED (Look at this freakin' bed! ), the dark red curtains, the paint, the lighting, etc. I haven't determined what knick-knacks I want littering my shelf space, but I think I just found my first .

Well, like i said, i get into the 'Craft, Lovecraft Macaroni & Cheese, but the actual part where there are words seems lacking. It's difficult to explain. Like, you know how people say it sounds good on paper, but i don't see it happening? Like, the opposite or whatever of that. Goodness that looks meh on paper. Like a bad joke that gets funnier every time you tell it.
I can see where you're coming from. That all makes an odd sort of sense... but like I said. I don't know. I like it. I'm a glutton for it.

No, although I have a few of them on a list somewhere... just a few who have continued the Cthulhu Mythos. Any good ones you could recommend?

No. I haven't read them either. I have a habit of not counting anything but Lovecraft as part of the Mythos. Of course, that makes it much less expansive.

I don't know how I ended up on the Wikipedia page for the Necronomicon, but this makes me happy:
Quote :
The Widener Library at Harvard, which is supposed to have a copy of the "Necronomicon" according to Lovecraft's stories, has a catalog entry telling the seeker to "inquire at desk".
Win, Harvard. Win.

Sad to say... I don't read a lot... And I don't think I've experienced any of this H.P Lovecraft you speak of. *fails at life*

I read like a fiend but I've never read any lovecraft. So don't feel too bad.

Here, you'll find many of his full stories, free (I'm pretty sure most of his works are now past their copyrights or whatever, thus free to the public domain)
My favorite is probably The Rats in the Walls. I would recommend anything posted here, though.
